HonorVet Technologies is seeking a travel nurse RN Utilization Review for a travel nursing job in Syracuse, New York.

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced RN Case Manager to join our team in a fast-paced, acute care hospital environment. This hybrid role blends utilization review , case management , and clinical documentation improvement , ensuring optimal patient care coordination, effective resource use, and accurate clinical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review patient records to ensure medical necessity, correct level of care, and efficient utilization of hospital resources.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, social workers, billing, etc.) to plan and facilitate discharge, care transitions, and ongoing care.
• Conduct clinical documentation audits, coach providers on documentation best practices, and help improve charting accuracy.
• Apply utilization review criteria and MS-DRG / ICD coding knowledge to guide decision-making.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives to streamline utilization and documentation processes.
• Communicate effectively with payers, departments, and providers to resolve utilization or documentation issues.

Qualifications:

• Current New York State RN license / registration required.
• BLS certification , with the ability to be recertified.
• 1.5+ years of recent (within 2 years) experience in an acute care hospital , ideally of similar size or trauma level.
• Hands-on experience in case management and utilization review .
• Strong familiarity with EPIC EMR system.
• Proven experience or aptitude in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) .
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
